The Map Feedback System

http://gamingmasters.co.uk/feedback/

Over the last few months I've been trying to think of ways to use training annotations in a way that is suitable to their current implementation (They only work in single player) and then it hit me on saturday - They could be used for easy, clear and accurate feedback on maps in development, a few days later and we have this:

Comments were made on a live prophunt server by myself and are being viewed on a local listen server

So, What do we have? - We have:

The ability for players to target any location that they wish in the map and give a piece of feedback through !annotate - If an annotation already exists at the location, they cannot place another.

The abilty for people interested in the feedback to load up the map in single player and view it.

The ability for the map author to delete annotations once he has seen them via !deleteannotation

A web panel where annotations and general feedback (given via !feedback) is aggregated and authors can login via Steam (http://steamcommunity.com/dev) to claim their map and be able to moderate the annotations, feedback, (and change map information, and upload map screenshots. - Not yet done)

Why is this better than just posting feedback on a forum?

Posting feedback can be a hassle, you have to take a screenshot of the issue and post up reproduction steps. With this, you take a quick break from the game to type something and the map author can come back and see exactly what you wrote and where at a later date, without the need of location descriptions or screenshots.

***
Commands are: !annotate <message> which provides targeted (location reference) feedback and !feedback <message> which provides generic feedback.

Map authors can view the annotations in game by installing Sourcemod/MM:S on their local machine and using this plugin: http://gamingmasters.co.uk/feedback/feedback.smx - Please be wary that many servers do not allow the running of sourcemod/metamod while you are playing on them and will kick you until you unload it, to unload both sourcemod/metamod, simply move metamod.vdf out of the addons root dir.

Map authors can delete annotations from within the game with !deleteannotation, please note that the map must be yours for this to work.

Let me know what you think - And be sure to put it to good use!

Ok my technical knowledge of how easy/possible it would be to set this up is practically nil. However, i've been playing Randomizer on an american server for awhile now and it's ridiculously fun, way more fun than balloon race imo. But the problem is i can't find a UK server that runs it, and the ping is always >100.

Also it's always packed, unlike a few of our current servers, people want to play this. So my question is, would anyone be willing to maybe implement this on a trial basis to see if there's any interest?

(For anyone who hasn't played randomizer, it's basically arena but everyone spawns as a random class with a completely random set of weapons. (Scout with rocket launcher and spy knife etc)

TL;DR Randomizer please?

Just look at some of this shit.

http://xenforo.com/community/forums/have-you-seen.3/

For those of you not in the loop, this is XenForo, made by two of vBulletin's old developers who left since the whole vB4 fuck up (which we conveniently run).

Now, I am prepared to invest (literally too) a lot of effort into porting our theme, mods (shoutbox, possibly arcade), smilies and everything else in exchange for an awesomely polished system - something we currently don't really have. Besides the main pages which people see on a regular basis, there are A LOT of rough edges. XenForo is not a half-baked heap of shit, but an awesome and fast system that is much easier to expand and work with.

While it's true vBulletin is being completely restructured in version 4.1, it will mean starting nearly from scratch with the theme, and our current shoutbox is the only decent one available and hasn't been updated since February.

But on the other hand this all happened before and we jumped on a failwagon (i.e. vB4). However this time around we have a working prototype to play with (see link above) and videos of the many awesome features and admin panel. With vB4 we had a couple of photoshopped screenshots.

tl;dr - not sure if want awesome new forum being released in a month or so.

inb4 if it ain't broke don't fix it (it is broke and 4.1 isn't even likely to come out this year)
inb4 nostalgia'd etc.

Like many other sites, we have been hit with a mass attack designed to exploit a flaw in vBSEO 3.5.1 and redirect visitors at random to a drive-by attack site.

You may have noticed since yesterday that the URLs had changed and a lot of links stopped working. I thought this was goat so I disregarded a warning email about an emergency 3.5.1 PL1 update :(

I strongly advise you to scan your computer with MalwareBytes as soon as possible, regardless of browser, plugins or existing security solution.

I have installed the patch and a backup of our URL rewrite config and taken some extra preventative measures, so hopefully there should no longer be a threat.

Buggy, retarded postbit, looks awful etc. Plus I honestly can't remember the last time I used it, whereas I was on our old arcade all the time.

On our old forum we had v3 Arcade (remember this?), which has added support for vB4. So, assuming we can migrate the highscores, should we move back to it?
